State Farm Neighborhood Assist ® 2018

Promise Council

To remove barriers to learning because all children deserve the opportunity to succeed.

In 2017, over 35% of students in fifteen District 87 and Unit 5 schools are low-income or qualify for free and reduced lunches. It is as much as 75% in some schools. Homelessness has been on the rise since 2013. We work to help alleviate the stress for students by providing mentoring, physical items like clothing, and getting parents more involved.

The $25,000 would help us fund a new scholarship programs to provide money to have physical supplies (clothing, school supplies, backpacks, socks, etc) for the school year for 15 schools.

Promise Council has been around for almost 10 years. The grant would allow us to increase our presence in schools and serve more of the children who need assistance. We would be able to assist more than 10,000 children.
